Youth Guide

Be the human connection between a young person and their first encounter with Scripture in virtual reality.

Why This Role Matters

The technology can place a child inside the belly of the whale — but it's a Youth Guide who makes them feel safe enough to stay. You are the face of this mission. Without you, the deployment is just hardware.

What You'll Do

Greet and orient youth participants before their VR session begins
Assist with headset fitting and comfort adjustments
Answer questions, provide encouragement, and maintain a calm, welcoming environment
Help facilitate post-experience discussion or reflection
Assist with light setup and breakdown of the deployment space

Typical Shift

2–4 hours on deployment day, typically a Saturday or after-school weekday. You'll receive advance notice of dates and locations.

Time Commitment

As few as 1–2 deployments per month. We work around your schedule.

Requirements

Genuine love for young people and comfort working with youth ages 8–18
Ability to stay calm, patient, and encouraging in a fast-paced environment
Must be 18 years or older
Reliable transportation to Rocky Mount, NC deployment sites

Screening Requirements

Background check required — instructions provided after application approval. ZionSphere covers the cost.
Drug screening required — conducted prior to first deployment. ZionSphere covers the cost.

Training

All Youth Guides receive orientation training before their first deployment. Training covers VR equipment basics, youth interaction best practices, safety protocols, and what to expect on deployment day. Training details are still being finalized — approved volunteers will receive full instructions before they're scheduled.
