Why This Role Matters

Every deployment depends on equipment that works. Tech Support volunteers are the unsung heroes who make sure every headset is charged, calibrated, and ready the moment a young person puts it on.

What You'll Do

  • Set up VR headsets and supporting equipment before each deployment
  • Assist participants with headset use and troubleshoot issues in real time
  • Monitor equipment performance throughout the event
  • Pack down and inventory equipment after each deployment
  • Report any equipment damage or technical issues to the team

Typical Shift

2โ€“5 hours on deployment day including setup and breakdown. Arrive 45โ€“60 minutes before participants.

Time Commitment

As few as 1โ€“2 deployments per month. Perfect for someone who wants a consistent, predictable role.

Requirements

  • Basic comfort with technology โ€” no advanced experience required, we will train you
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow checklists
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Reliable transportation to Rocky Mount, NC deployment sites

Screening Requirements

  • Background check required โ€” instructions provided after application approval. ZionSphere covers the cost.
  • Drug screening required โ€” conducted prior to first deployment. ZionSphere covers the cost.

Training

Tech Support volunteers receive hands-on equipment training before their first deployment. You'll learn headset setup, common troubleshooting steps, and our deployment checklist. No prior VR experience needed โ€” if you can follow instructions and stay calm under pressure, you're qualified.
