Why This Role Matters

The Open Doors Program can only serve the communities that know it exists. Community Outreach volunteers are the connectors โ€” the ones who build the relationships that bring new organizations into the program.

What You'll Do

  • Identify and reach out to local churches, libraries, after-school programs, and community centers
  • Share information about the Open Doors Program and the application process
  • Represent ZionSphere at community events, fairs, and gatherings
  • Follow up with interested organizations and connect them to the ZionSphere team
  • Provide regular updates on outreach activities and new leads

Typical Shift

Flexible โ€” outreach can happen in person or by phone/email. You define your own schedule.

Time Commitment

5โ€“10 hours per month recommended for meaningful impact, but any contribution is welcome.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Genuine passion for the mission and ability to articulate it clearly
  • Comfortable approaching organizations cold and following up consistently
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Familiarity with the Rocky Mount, NC area is a significant advantage

Screening Requirements

  • Background check required โ€” instructions provided after application approval. ZionSphere covers the cost.
  • Drug screening required โ€” conducted prior to first deployment. ZionSphere covers the cost.

Training

Community Outreach volunteers receive talking points, program materials, and guidance on how to present the Open Doors Program effectively. You'll also be connected with the ZionSphere team lead who can answer detailed questions from interested organizations.
