ZionSphere is actively transitioning from fiscal sponsorship under the Christian Ministry Alliance to forming its own independent 501(c)(3). The Legal Counsel board seat is critical during this window. This person will advise on nonprofit formation, ensure regulatory compliance, review contracts, and protect the organization's intellectual property.
Advise on nonprofit incorporation and IRS 501(c)(3) application process
Review and negotiate contracts with vendors, partners, and funders
Provide counsel on intellectual property protection for VR content and brand assets
Advise on employment law, volunteer agreements, and liability exposure
Guide board members on their legal fiduciary duties and obligations
Review grant agreements and ensure compliance with funder requirements
Advise on or lead the 501(c)(3) incorporation and IRS application process
Draft or review founding governance documents including bylaws and conflict of interest policy
Review fiscal sponsorship agreement and guide the transition timeline
Establish the organization's standard contract templates
Ideal Candidate
Attorney with nonprofit law, IP law, or tech/media law background. North Carolina bar admission preferred but not required.
Time Commitment
Expect 3–6 hours/month. Heavier in Year 1 during formation; lighter once structures are established.
