Inside the Whale:
A New Virtual Experience Brings Jonah to Life
A New Virtual Experience Brings Jonah to Life
What if you could feel what Jonah felt — not read it, not watch it, but be inside it? ZionSphere's launch experience places players in first-person darkness inside the whale, with one mission: find the fragments of Jonah's prayer and experience the arc of surrender, repentance, and rescue.
The Experience
🐋 Jonah & The Whale
A First-Person Survival Experience — ZionSphere Launch Title
Players are placed in Jonah's perspective — surrounded by darkness, the sounds and sensation of being swallowed
The environment is immersive but wonder-driven — emphasizing the miraculous, not the grotesque
Players search for fragments of Jonah's prayer (Jonah 2) scattered throughout the whale's interior
Assembling the prayer triggers the moment of deliverance — players experience the full emotional arc
Designed to make ancient Scripture feel viscerally real to a modern audience
The Story Behind the Story
Why Jonah First?
One of Scripture's most universally recognized stories
A uniquely physical, environment-driven narrative — ideal for VR
The emotional arc (rebellion → consequence → surrender → redemption) is timeless
Appeals to believers and the spiritually curious alike
What Players Say They Feel
"I've read this story 100 times — I've never felt it like that"
A sense of claustrophobia that makes Jonah's prayer feel urgent and real
The moment of deliverance feels earned — not told
"Jonah's story has always been about more than a fish. It's about what happens when God won't let you run — and what surrender actually looks like from the inside. We wanted players to feel that. Not just understand it intellectually."
